Job summary

Madigan Army Medical Center in Tacoma, WA is seeking a pharmacist to join the outpatient team. You will review prescriptions, determine dosage and quantity, and coordinate with prescribers to resolve dosing or interaction issues. You will also assist customers at the dispensing window and ensure accuracy and compliance with SOPs.

US Citizens only. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation for qualified professionals with outpatient pharmacy experience in a federal setting.

Duties

Help

  • Receive and review prescriptions, using knowledge of general principles of pharmaceutical practices.
  • Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
  • Attend the dispensing window for pick up.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • Immunization screening will be required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
  • This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 15 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position is required to work uncommon tours of duty hours such as, on-call, working either fixed or rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
  • This position requires Tuberculosis testing.
  • This position is a rotating shift position with work schedules 8:00am-4:30pm and 9:00am-5:00pm

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience specific to outpatient pharmacy duties to include entering prescriptions into outpatient computer systems; determining type of substance, strength or dosage and quantity to be dispensed; and assisting customers in medication pick up or drop off. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of experience for education is permitted.
