Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Current pharmacy technician licensure in the applicable state(s).
• Hospital and retail experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists the pharmacist in providing medication information and pharmaceutical services to patients and staff.
• Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.
• Performs dosage calculations as needed for prescriptions across patient populations.
• Maintains inventory and reorders supplies as needed.
• Answers phone and communicates with hospital staff as directed by the pharmacist.
• Sterile compounding and chemotherapy prep tasks, including clean room training and space maintenance.
• Delivers medications to designated locations and maintains stock in dispensing cabinets.

Job Description:

We're seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team at Effingham Hospital in Springfield, GA on an as needed basis (PRN). The ideal candidate is someone who works well in a team environment, detail-oriented, and willing to assist where necessary. We offer a competitive pay rate, with potential adjustments based on experience and qualifications, as well as the opportunity for advancement, employee recognition, and team collaboration.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assists the pharmacist in providing medication, drug information, and pharmaceutical services to patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital personnel
• Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies
• Demonstrates an ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various prescriptions ranging from the newborn to the elderly populations
• Maintains inventory of supplies in pharmacy and other departments and reorders them accordingly
• Answers the phone and communicates effectively with hospital staff as directed by the pharmacist
• Performs tasks related to sterile compounding and compounding chemotherapy, including but not limited to clean room training, cleaning, and maintaining the space
• Prepares and delivers medications to designated locations based on end-user need
• Maintains stock in the automated dispensing cabinet

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current pharmacy technician licensure in the applicable state(s)
• Prefer both hospital and retail experience
