At CVS Health, we are focused on transforming health care for our customers and making our company a great place to work. We help people navigate the health care system – and their personal health care – by improving access, lowering costs, and being a trusted partner for every meaningful moment of health. Within our Retail locations, we bring this promise to life with heart every day, and our Pharmacy Technicians (Technicians) play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.

As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist our patients and customers, helping to deliver an exceptional experience. They assist the pharmacy team to ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and that caring service exceeds patient expectations.

Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team, applying Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication. They demonstrate genuine care in all interactions and contribute to a safe, inclusive culture where all feel valued and empowered. Once in role, Technicians are required to complete rigorous training and satisfy all registration, licensing, and certification requirements per State Board of Pharmacy guidelines. Until all requirements are met, duties may be limited by the Pharmacy Manager.

A Technician's responsibilities include:

  1. Supporting pharmacy operations by following SOPs to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  2. Following workflow procedures at each pharmacy station for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  3. Creating positive patient experiences through empathy, personalized service, immunizations, and problem-solving.
  4. Completing inventory activities such as medication deliveries, cycle counts, and stock management.
  5. Contributing to a high-performing team, embracing growth, and seeking knowledge to better assist patients.
  6. Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to different store locations as needed.
  7. Understanding and complying with all relevant laws, regulations, standards, and policies to ensure safety, privacy, and compliance.
  8. Supporting additional healthcare services like immunizations and point-of-care testing, where legally permitted, including obtaining necessary licensure and training.

Where permissible, supporting immunizations involves:

  1. Completing licensure and training to support vaccine administration.
  2. Educating patients about vaccines and referring questions to the Pharmacist.
  3. Monitoring and managing vaccine supplies and adverse reactions.
