Position Overview

Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh is hiring a Pharmacy Technician to work in the inpatient pharmacy at the main hospital location in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh.

The Pharmacy Technician, Associate provides pharmaceutical care to patients within the UPMC Health System by assisting with the sterile and nonsterile medication preparation, medication filling, and medication distribution. The services are provided in compliance with Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy regulations.

Responsibilities

• Fill and prepare medications accurately.
• Work safely with hazardous drugs.
• Distribute medications and manage inventory.
• Communicate with hospital staff and patients.
• Ensure regulatory compliance.
• Maintain records and documentation.
• Train pharmacy personnel.
• Participate in quality improvement activities.
• Perform duties according to system-wide competencies and behaviors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited pharmacy technician program, or six months of pharmacy technician experience, or six months experience as a Pharmacy Assistant within UPMC, or enrollment in a college program in good standing.

Licensure and Certifications

• Act 31, 33, 34, 73 certifications.
