Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician for the hospital-based retail pharmacy at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. The role supports prescription processing, insurance billing, and customer service in a collaborative healthcare team.

Hours are 10:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with Days shifts. Prior retail pharmacy experience and a state license are preferred, and PTCB certification may be required within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Retail pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations).
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process prescriptions by entering orders, preparing medications, and accurately labeling prescriptions.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patients and completing pharmacy-related transactions.
• Submit and resolve insurance claims, prior authorizations, and billing inquiries.
• Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and monitoring medication and supply levels.
• Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations, HIPAA standards, and medication safety protocols.
• Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support quality patient care and timely prescription fulfillment.
• Ensure a clean, organized, and efficient pharmacy environment while supporting daily operational needs.

As aCertified Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care within our hospital-based retail pharmacy. • Previous retail pharmacy technician experience preferred
• State Pharmacy Technician License/Registration required (if required by state regulations)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of ASHP-accredited or equivalent pharmacy technician training program preferred

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification required or obtained within six (6) months of hire
• 340B program experience preferred (if at a 340B facility)
