Job summary

Patterson Companies, Inc. in Iowa Falls is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Assistant to support daily pharmacy operations under a pharmacist’s direct supervision.

You will assist with receiving prescriptions, entering orders, counting, labeling, packing, and tracking inventory to ensure medications meet all applicable laws and regulations. Proofreading labels, handling hazardous materials, and maintaining a clean, compliant workspace are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be able to pass the state pharmacy technician exam.
  • Preferred: national certification (CPhT) or college certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist under pharmacist supervision with receiving prescriptions, entering orders, picking, counting, labeling, packing and inventory tracking.
  • Proofread and apply drug labels under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse/pharmacy.
  • Handle hazardous materials and prescription drugs per procedures and regulations.
  • Interact with veterinarians and pharmacists to support operations.
  • Document discrepancies and report errors promptly.

Job description

Job Summary

Assist in the daily operation of the pharmacy by performing tasks under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, including receiving, entering prescriptions, picking, counting, labeling, packing and tracking inventory. The role ensures that customers receive medications that meet all applicable laws and regulations.

Essential Functions
  • Transact all business in accordance with Animal Health International Inc.’s code of ethics and conduct.
  • Align with the Company’s Mission, Guiding Principles, Values, Goals and Objectives.
  • Perform all warehouse and pharmacy duties including picking, packing, receiving, counting, labeling, and tracking inventory.
  • Use all warehouse/pharmacy equipment and machinery.
  • Achieve assigned performance metrics and KPIs.
  • Interact with veterinarians and pharmacists.
  • Document and report all discrepancies, damages and errors.
  • Proofread, generate, and apply drug labels under a pharmacist’s supervision.
  • Help maintain a secure, organized, clean, and safe warehouse/pharmacy.
  • Handle hazardous materials, pesticides, and prescription drugs according to the Company’s procedures, applicable laws and regulations.
  • Gain knowledge of overall warehouse and pharmacy operations.
  • Manage time effectively, meet personal goals and objectives, and work effectively with other team members.
Additional Functions
  • Perform all work in accordance with the Company Safety Guidelines and procedures with safety and regulatory licensure compliance.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of pharmacy practices and regulations.
Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good computer skills with various applications.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and information clearly and concisely.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to problem‑solve effectively.
  • Good organization and administrative skills.
  • Ability to take and pass the exam to become a certified pharmacy technician with the state Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak effectively in English.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) through Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Health Career Association (NHA).
  • College degree or vocational school certification.
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmacy experience.
  • Background in pharmacy dispensing process.

  • Potential compensation range: $17.36 – $22.55. Final offer may exceed this range based on location, experience and skills.
