Remote Pharmacy Technician

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated pharmacy technicians to join our remote team, responsible for reviewing prior authorizations for coverage determination within a large healthcare insurance company. Technicians will determine approval or denial decisions, which will then be sent to pharmacists for final review. The role involves handling Medicare and various medication types, with minimal phone work required.

Responsibilities

  • Review and track coverage determination requests.

  • Approve requests based on established criteria and enter decisions into the PBM system.

  • Notify providers and members of decision outcomes.

  • Respond to client inquiries and refer requests for specialty drugs as necessary.

  • Obtain verbal authorizations and request detailed clinical information from prescribers.

  • Assist with patient or physician calls as needed.

Essential Skills

  • Registered pharmacy technician in the state of residence.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Strong computer skills.

  • Current Pharmacy Registration and Certification as required by the state.

  • Experience with prior authorization and pharmacy services.

  • Basic data entry and customer service skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

  • Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance processes.

  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) certification.

  • Experience in retail pharmacy, call centers, PBM, hospital, or specialty pharmacy settings.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
