Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician Retail assists with the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. This role includes using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions while ensuring compliance with company policies and maintaining quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Use pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information and fill prescriptions accurately.
• Assist and coach pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and complying with company procedures.
• Maintain pharmacy inventory, place orders, verify receipts, and remove outdated drugs.
• Create claims for order errors and damaged goods; maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques.
• Ensure a safe and clean pharmacy environment following all applicable rules and regulations.
• Respond to patient greetings in person or by phone, answer questions, and refer inquiries to the pharmacist.
• Handle pharmacy errors, report promptly to the pharmacist, and follow policies for quality improvement.
• Assist with 3rd‑party reimbursement claims efficiently and correctly.
• Register all sales on the cash register and handle cash transactions.
• Work independently, meet deadlines, and maintain workflow with the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of pharmacy law, medical terminology, and (ChenMed and/or JenCare Neighborhood Medical Center) products and services.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient math and analytical abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and remain flexible.
• Required certification and licensure as per state regulations; ability to obtain continuing education credits.

Pay Range

$17.00 - $24.26 per hour. Final compensation will depend on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors. May also be eligible for bonuses or commissions.
