Job summary

Cardinal Health in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Tech I, Nuclear Pharmacy trainee to assist pharmacists and technicians in operations and customer interactions. You will learn facility and equipment prep, cleaning, inventory, and daily task documentation as mandated by law.

As a trainee, you’ll perform quality checks, participate in dispensing processes, and handle order preparation and fulfillment. This role requires flexibility for early hours, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; preferred experience 0-1 year.
  • Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician, or PTCB preferred.
  • Past IV experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval.
  • Draw doses into either a syringe or vial.
  • Perform quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals per guidelines.
  • Receive, document, and store incoming/outgoing pharmaceuticals per DOT and company guidelines.
  • Maintain computer inventory and records for Rx drugs usage.
  • Assist and/or perform labeling of blood cell products.
  • Perform general lab and facility clean up.
  • Clerical tasks including receipts, report prep, and billing records.

Overview

Shift / Schedule

36 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Approximate schedule is 1:45AM to 9:30AM with a 30 minute lunch. Typically 2 to 3 weekends a year, 1 to 2 holidays a year. Weekend on‑call shared rotation approximately 2 times per year. Candidates must be flexible to work different days/schedules, come in early or stay late, and overtime based on business needs.

Job Summary

Primary purpose of the TechI, Nuclear Pharmacy: Assist the pharmacist and TechII in pharmacy operations and customer interactions, answering questions and relaying information to physicians and pharmacists.

As a trainee, involved in learning all basic aspects of facility and equipment preparation, including cleaning, inventory management, and learning to perform and record all tasks as mandated by law.

Assist in performing quality checks, functional testing, and participation in the dispensing process.

Assist in order preparation, entry and fulfillment, and completing ad hoc tasks as required.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approval.
  • Draw doses into either a syringe or vial.
  • Perform quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Receive, document, and store incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelines.
  • Maintain computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugs.
  • Assist and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell products.
  • Perform general laboratory and facility clean up.
  • May perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing records.
  • Make deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as needed.
  • Speak with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone.
  • Work under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceeding.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; preferred experience 0‑1 year.
  • Registration with the State Board of Pharmacy, state licensure as a Pharmacy Technician, or PTCB preferred.
  • Past IV experience is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Minimum age 18 due to driving company owned vehicle.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity for occasional reach, lifting and holding of small objects.
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity to dispense doses.
  • Ability to manage up to 75 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts.
  • Comfortable performing repetitive motions/tasks.
  • Comfortable working in a nuclear environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, on call, or weekend/holiday/on‑call rotation.
  • Ability to work overtime with little or no advance notice.
  • Intermediate computer skills (ability to use computers and tablets).

Pay and Benefits
