Job summary

Shriners Children's is seeking a part-time Pharmacy Technician to join our hospital-based team in Illinois. The role involves supporting pharmacists with dispensing, unit-dose packaging, cart-fill, and medication deliveries across patient care areas.

The position requires an HS diploma/GED, at least 1 year in hospital pharmacy, and an active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of practice. Shifts are Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Qualifications

• HS diploma/GED is required.
• At least 1 year of hospital pharmacy experience required.
• Pharmacy Technician license in the state of practice required.

Responsibilities

• Assists pharmacist in daily operations of the pharmacy, providing pharmaceutical care to include distribution of medication, unit dose pre-packaging, cart-fill and delivery of medications, handling phone calls/orders, removal of out of date medications.
• Carries out calculations required for the usual dosage determinations and solution preparation, using weight and volume equivalents in the metric systems.
• Distributes medication to patient care areas and is responsible for maintaining medication in these areas including inventory and restocking.
• Performs aseptic compounding of sterile dosage forms. This includes practice of aseptic technique, proper procedure for preparing certain types of parenteral admixtures, preparation of the label and any control records, and documentation of quality control.
