As a full time, non-exempt Optum/CPS Pharmacy Technician (Specialty Pharmacy) Services at Cadillac Hospital (part of the Munson Medical Center Health System) you will assist in various pharmacy activities under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Your responsibilities will include preparing, delivering, and restocking medications; performing order entry; procuring drugs; billing. You will carry out your job duties according to written procedures and guidelines based on pharmacy standards and regulatory requirements.


Schedule:

This position is scheduled to work at least 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some on call. There are no nights, weekends or holidays.

The Foster Family Community Health Center:

The Foster Family Community Health Center, formerly called the Munson Community Health Center, is the front door to services provided at Munson Medical Center and elsewhere in the Munson Healthcare system. People from around northern Michigan use Foster Family Community Health Center for pre-operative testing, pain management, rehabilitation therapies, urgent care, sleep disorders, and many other diagnostic services.


About the Pharmacy:

The Specialty Pharmacy will utilize PioneerRx or a similar program. The Pharmacy hours will be Monday-Friday from 9am to 5pm.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense medications by measuring, counting, labeling, and packaging prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist
  • Process prescription orders accurately, including entering patient and prescription data into pharmacy systems
  • Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers by gathering necessary information and supporting workflow efficiency
  • Process and coordinate specialty medication prescriptions, often for complex or chronic conditions
  • Manage prior authorizations and insurance requirements, working closely with payers and providers
  • Coordinate patient onboarding and refills, ensuring adherence to therapy schedules
  • Handle medication distribution logistics, including cold-chain management and direct-to-patient shipping
  • Maintain detailed documentation and reporting, meeting REMS, FDA, and manufacturer program requirements
  • Provide high-touch patient support, addressing non-clinical questions and navigating access barriers
  • Ensure compliance with specialty pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and quality metrics

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • MI Licensure/Registration/Certification requirements
  • National Certification
  • Proficient computer skills including experience using Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of pharmacy technician experience
  • Experience with Chronic disease

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16 - $29 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
