Job summary

Genoa Healthcare, part of UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Pharmacy Technician in Attalla, AL to support mental health and specialty pharmacy operations under a licensed pharmacist. Location: 425 5th Ave NW, Attalla, AL 35954. Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00 am–4:30 pm CST with lunch 12:30–1:00 pm CST.

Primary responsibilities include dispensing prescriptions, clerical duties, inventory management, and ensuring accuracy under supervision. Qualified applicants will have AL license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted Alabama Pharmacy Technician license.
  • Access to reliable transportation to site and shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent service to patients, customers, and colleagues, and performs clerical duties.
  • Fills prescriptions, ensures dosage accuracy, and labels medications under direct supervision of the registered pharmacist.
  • Orders, receives, and manages medication supplies and specimens.
  • Receives and processes prescriptions and wholesaler orders.
  • Verifies medications, counts inventory, and maintains accurate medication records.
  • Works with the pharmacist to support pharmacy operations and maintain compliance.
  • Performs various clerical duties to support departmental operations.
  • Communicates professionally with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

We seek a Pharmacy Technician to support all functions of the Genoa mental health and specialty pharmacy primarily through dispensing medical prescriptions and performing necessary clerical duties while under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist.

Location: 425 5th Ave NW, Room 92, Attalla, AL 35954

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm CST with lunch from 12:30 pm – 1:00 pm CST

Required Qualifications
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician license in the state of Alabama.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
  • Pharmacy and prescription experience.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401(k) contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16–$29 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
