The Pharmacy Technician is an entry-level position. Following a training period, the Technician should be able to decipher and enter orders on the computer, compound IVs, charge and credit, fill orders, answer phones and doors, and stock the department.
Pharmacy Technician Licensure. Equivalent experience includes full or limited pharmacy license through Michigan. New hires and transfers before October 1, 2015, must possess a full or limited license. After October 1, 2015, all must have a temporary, limited, or full license, with full licensure obtained within 365 days.
High School Diploma or GED.
Compounds oral and topical solutions and ointments, answers phones, retrieves tubes, and faxes. Assists the pharmacist as directed. Adds barcodes to products using MILT 3.0 and PharmNet Inpatient Formulary Manager. Performs other duties as assigned.
Ability to handle stressful situations, wear PPE, move freely, see and hear adequately, sit/stand/walk for long periods, and perform repetitive movements. Exposure to bloodborne pathogens, with compliance to safety protocols. Must handle multiple tasks, work independently, and maintain attendance. Physical demand level: Light.
