A Pharmacy Technician responsible for processing member purchases, managing merchandise presentation, operating cash registers, handling claims and returns, monitoring prescription fulfillment, maintaining the pharmacy area, entering prescription data, filling prescriptions, assisting with pickups, completing paperwork, and ensuring compliance with policies and standards.
Processes member purchases by operating cash registers and related hardware, using appropriate procedures for different payment types and items sold.
Maintains merchandise presentation by stocking, rotating, and disposing of damaged or expired goods; setting up displays; signing and pricing merchandise; securing fragile and high‑shrink items.
Maintains the pharmacy area in accordance with company policies, properly handling claims and returns, using equipment for merchandising functions, verifying on‑hand merchandise, arranging supplies, identifying shrink and damages, ensuring safety, and completing required documentation.
Monitors prescription fulfillment, resolves problems, processes insurance claims, rescans illegible images, alerts members to out‑of‑stock inventory, partial fills, and physician authorization requirements.
Promotes and maintains the pharmacy’s professional reputation, assists the pharmacist with prescription fulfillment, processes third‑party claims, assists members with prescriptions and purchases, and secures paperwork.
Provides patient/member service: acknowledges member, identifies needs, initiates prescription fulfillment at the drop‑off window, creates orders, promotes products, resolves member issues, assists in purchase decisions, locates OTC merchandise, and maintains a safe shopping environment.
Enters prescription data into pharmacy software, translating prescriptions, transcribing data, and creating or modifying patient records.
Fills prescriptions by retrieving orders, counting, pouring, measuring, mixing medications, selecting containers, operating scanning equipment, and ensuring accuracy.
Assists during pickup by verifying information, entering data, marking prescriptions, retrieving bags, scanning tags, gathering signatures (HIPAA), and logging sales of restricted items.
Completes work assignments, uses data and resources, collaborates with managers and coworkers, prioritizes tasks, communicates progress, recommends improvements, and adapts to change.
Complies with company policies, procedures, ethics, and standards by implementing action plans and the Open Door Policy.

The hourly wage range for this position is $22.50 to $30.50. The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
Meets all state requirements to work as a Pharmacy Technician, such as minimum age, qualification, registration, certification, and/or licensure when required by the State Board of Pharmacy. Must obtain National Pharmacy Technician Certification issued by PTCB (PTCE) or NHA (ExCPT) within 9 months of job entry.
