Job summary

Good Shepherd Health Care in Hermiston, OR is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to work under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and support the Pharmacy Director and Oregon State Board of Pharmacy guidelines. The role includes dispensing medications and Pyxis operations.

Responsibilities include sterile IV admixture, Pyxis load/unload/refill, and maintaining patient confidentiality with compassionate care.

Qualifications

  • Requires Pharmacy Technician Registration with Oregon Board of Pharmacy.
  • Education: High School Diploma; completed basic science and math courses.
  • Experience: None required; hospital experience desirable.
  • Equipment: Pyxis system familiarity.
  • Skills: Computer skills; empathy and communication.

  • Work with Pyxis system for load/unload and refills.

Overview

Full-Time position

Wage compensation - Min: $ 21.66 Max: $ 33.17

Pharmacy Technician will be working under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist and will carry out the responsibilities that are assigned by the Director of Pharmacy and approved by the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities

Must be able to 1) perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure; 2) accept responsibility for the directions, control, planning, of an activity; 3) make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria; 4) work independently; 5) recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality; 6) convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, grief, or trauma; 7) relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation; 8) communicate effectively and therapeutically with people from every socioeconomic background; 9) incorporating guest relations in daily activities.

B. Working Conditions

Inside environment, protected from the weather, but not necessarily temperature changes. Subject to potential exposure to infectious and contagious disease, and hazardous (including biohazard) materials and equipment; Potentially subject to combative/confused patients; Variable noise levels; Subject to rapid pace, multiple stimuli, unpredictable environment, and critical situations.

C. Physical Demands/Traits

Must be able to 1) Perceive the nature of sounds by ear; 2) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; 3) lift, carry, push and pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds; 4) continuous walking and standing.

Qualifications
A. Education

Required: High School Diploma Completed basic science and math courses.

B. Experience

Required: None

Desired: Previous hospital experience, computer skills, Pyxis systems and pharmacy knowledge

C. Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

Required: Pharmacy Technician Registration with Oregon Board of Pharmacy

D. Equipment/Tools/Work Aids

Sterile IV Hoods and IV supplies (needles, syringes, etc), typewriter, computer terminal and printer, photocopier, fax machine, Pyxis system

E. Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Computer skills and experience

IV Admixture and sterile compounding procedures

Pyxis support, load and unload and refill features.

40 Hours USD $21.66/Hr. USD $33.17/Hr. 01-4050 Pharmacy Day
