Job summary

Vail Health in Colorado is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support daily operations, enter patient and prescription information, aid in dispensing orders, stock inventory and train other technicians.

Under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will profile and aid in dispensing, handle third-party plan adjudication, manage cash transactions, and ensure HIPAA compliance while delivering safe, patient‑centered care.

Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare environment is preferred.
• Must be adept at typing and using various computer programs.
• Must possess working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technician team by modeling Pharmacy Technician processes and training colleagues.
• Enter patient information and prescription orders in the system.
• Assist with dispensing of prescription orders under pharmacist supervision and help with compounding as needed.
• Interact with third-party prescription plans to resolve adjudication issues.
• Manage cash register transactions and daily reconciliations to support revenue tracking.
• Oversee OTC and RX inventory and train others in inventory management.
• Provide excellent customer service using Relationship-Based Care to support patient safety and preferences.
• Model Just Culture principles in daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned and ensure HIPAA compliance.

About the opportunity:

Support the pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy, including: entering patient and prescription information, aiding in dispensing of prescription orders, managing transactions, stocking inventory, and serving as lead to other technicians.

What you will do:

1. Serve as the lead technician by acting as a role model and training in the Pharmacy Technician processes.
2. Enter patient information and prescription orders in the computer.
3. Interact with third-party prescription plans to solve adjudication problems in order to facilitate the processing of prescriptions.
4. Profile and aid in the dispensing of prescription orders under the supervision of a pharmacist. This may include training in prescription compounding of specialty medications.
5. Manage cash register transactions in a courteous manner to help complete the patient experience in a positive way.
6. Complete daily cash and checks reconciliation and daily sales sheet, and give to the finance department for posting to monthly revenue.
7. Manage and order OTC inventory in addition to assisting with RX inventory management in order to meet budgetary goals. Train others in this process and ensure its completion.
8. Deliver excellent customer service by utilizing Relationship-Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients and families.
9. Role model the principals of a Just Culture.
10. Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:

$22—$28.39 USD
