Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Nampa Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Tech Lead to guide daily technician operations, oversee automation and packaging, and mentor peers under pharmacy leadership.

This role focuses on staffing, training, inventory, and performance management, ensuring efficient, safe medication processes within the hospital setting in Nampa.

Three ten-hour shifts, four days a week, with day shift schedule, and opportunities to influence quality and patient care.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with Idaho State Board of Pharmacy.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a pharmacy technician; hospital experience preferred.
• National Certification (CPhT, ExCPT or equivalent) required.
• College level certificate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assists pharmacy technicians with their roles in the pharmacy.
• Provides structure and oversight for technician orientation, training, and competency assurance; coaches staff.
• Schedules technicians, finds replacements, and ensures smooth shift changes.
• Reviews and adjusts workflow to meet demand and uses resources to cover shifts.
• Conducts technician huddles and participates in quarterly and annual meetings.
• Assists in hiring/recruitment in coordination with pharmacy management.
• Counsels staff on performance and documents exemplary or unsatisfactory work.
• Monitors monthly technician tasks and provides follow up.
• Provides administrative support: records, reports, data maintenance, and timekeeping.
• Provides automated systems oversight and delegates duties as appropriate.
• Maintains security and confidentiality of passwords and user accounts.
• Ensures proper segregation of look-alike medications and appropriate distribution.
• Generates reports and maintains outdated medication tracking.
• Oversees restock loading and restock list management into automated distribution systems.
• Oversees kits/boxes/carts outside automated cabinets and par levels for inventories.
• Performs controlled substances inventories and reconciliations.
• Uses data mining to analyze data and prevent improper use of the automated system.
• Ensures automation processes align with hospital policy and drug shortage management.
• Participates in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
