Job summary

Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in preparing medications for dispensing and to operate the pharmacy robot with automated cabinets. The role includes aseptic dosing in a class 100 laminar flow hood, stock QA inspections, and delivering medications to units across the hospital.

The position requires a High School diploma; Pharmacy Tech I–III certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; pharmacy-related background preferred.
• Pharmacy Technician Certification favored; Tech I–III certifications noted in job postings.

Responsibilities

Employment Details

Employment Type: Full time. Shift: (see position summary for details)

Position Summary

Assists the pharmacist in preparing medications for dispensing. Does not dispense any medication that isn’t double checked by a registered pharmacist. Is directly responsible for running the pharmacy robot and maintaining stock in automated dispensing cabinets. Draws up doses in the IV class 10,000 clean room utilizing a class 100 laminar flow hood and aseptic technique. Performs pharmacy stock QA inspections on all nursing units. Makes delivery/pickup rounds to unit and departments and performs computer order entry functions. Completes other tasks as assigned by supervisors/pharmacists. Provides customer service by processing paper, electronic and phone requests for medications.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure

• High School diploma required. Some previous pharmacy related or hospital clinical background preferred. Preference will be given to nationally certified pharmacy technicians.
• Pharmacy Tech I : Less than one year of experience, or 1+ years of experience without a Pharmacy Technician certification
• Pharmacy Tech II: 1 year of experience and a Pharmacy Technician certification
• Pharmacy Tech III: 1 year of experience and a Pharmacy Technician certification, and a specialty area of assignment ( trainer, automation expert, etc)

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
