Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support Medication Management compliance and patient care. Under supervision of Pharmacy Leadership, the role ensures right drug, dose, and formulation are prepared for administration and contributes to inventory and purchasing activities.

Prefers hospital experience; licensure is required or eligibility within six months of hire. One year of healthcare experience may substitute for licensure at time of hire.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Medication Management regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Hospital/institutional environment experience preferred.
  • One year of healthcare experience acceptable in lieu of licensure if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with CMS, JCAHO, DEA, BOP, and USP standards.
  • Ensure the right drug, dose, and formulation is prepared for administration.
  • Assist with inventory, purchasing, and 340B program activities.
  • Support software systems and participate in problem solving as needed.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy and Pharmacy Leadership Team this position is responsible to ensure the highest compliance with Medication Management regulations, inclusive of CMS, JCAHO, DEA, BOP, USP. Activities of this position also center on direct and indirect patient care, ensure the right drug, right dose, right formulation if prepared and ready to be administered to our patients. Further activities can support inventory, purchasing, 340B, financial pathways, participation in critical problem solving skills, software knowledge and management, demonstrates initiative and in depend workloads, when necessary.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma/GED. CPHT.

EXPERIENCE

Pharmacy Technician licensure required (or eligibility to obtain licensure within six months of employment). Hospital/institutional experience preferred. One year of relevant healthcare experience required in lieu of licensure at time of hire.
