Job summary

Hemet Global Medical Center in Hemet, CA is seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team. Under supervision of the Staff Pharmacist, you will assist in preparation of prescriptions and IV solutions, maintain patient medication files, and help with medication distribution.

The role requires completion of an accredited technician training program with CA registration and at least one year of experience; you must hold a CA certificate and be familiar with Pyxis and regulatory

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the registered Staff Pharmacist, to perform specialized clerical work in the preparation of prescriptions and other medications for inpatients and outpatients; maintain comprehensive patient medication files; work with and assist pharmacist in the maintenance and manufacture of routine intravenous solutions and special solutions as requested by physicians; and does other related work as required.

DEFINITION

Under the guidance and supervision of the Staff Registered Pharmacist, the technicians are responsible for the bulk of the medication distribution and processing of prescriptions and medication orders.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is the full journey level class within the Pharmacy Technician series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Pharmacy Technician I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including the ability to work independently, exercising judgment, performing related purchasing and receiving/storing duties, and initiative to a specific assignment. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program as evidenced by receipt of certification/registration by the State of California.

Experience

• Minimum one year working as a pharmacy technician in a health care facility or community pharmacy.

Licensure/Certification

• Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a pharmacy Technician issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
