Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a Pharmacy Tech II to ensure medication availability, proper inventory, and accurate patient histories. The role supports IV orders and repackaging, working under supervision to maintain safety and compliance.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of pharmacy tech experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced hospital environment. Full-time, on-site position with standard benefits.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Answers phones
• Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services
• Check in and stock orders – Reorder as required
• Deliver medications and charges to patient locations
• Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders
• Repackage medications – ensure proper authorization
• Inventory and refill Floor Stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and Emergency Trays
• Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices

Job description

The Pharmacy Tech II ensures availability and delivery of medications to authorized locations/personnel. Maintain in-date inventory of medications. Obtain accurate patient medication history. Prepare and repackage medications accurately. Record and charge supplies/medications to the correct patient/location.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Adheres to hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Complies with all requirements related to risk management, safety, security, fire, and infection control. Complies with all applicable state, local and federal regulations
• Answers phones
• Attend pharmacy staff meetings/in-services
• Check in and stock orders – Reorder as required
• Comply with hospital policies
• Credit returned meds
• Deliver controlled substances
• Deliver Meds/Rounds on hourly or as needed basis
• Enter charges for manual billing needs
• Fill meds to be checked by Staff Pharmacists
• Inspect medication storage locations
• Inventory and refill Floor Stock, Automated Dispensing Cabinets, and Emergency Trays
• Maintain safety-integrity-professionalism of pharmacy
• Obtain accurate home medication histories by chart review, patient interview and phone calls to retail pharmacies and physician offices
• Other functions as defined/delegated by Direct Supervisor
• Prepare Accurate/Sterile IV orders
• Repackage medications – ensure proper authorization
• Other duties as assigned

• Demonstrated communication, project management, and computer literacy skills
