All assigned activities are performed under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

The Technician 2 functions in all aspects of drug distribution that do not require the professional judgment of a pharmacist. All assigned activities are performed under the supervision of a Pharmacist.

What You Will Do

• For Inpatient Pharmacy Tech 2, activities include but are not limited to:
• Accurate preparation of patient medications including non-sterile products and sterile products (including chemotherapy and TPN).
• Accurate and timely delivery of patient specific medications.
• Inventories, replenishes, and maintains drug stock.
• Orients and trains new staff.
• For Outpatient Pharmacy Tech 2, activities include but are not limited to:
• Utilizes pharmacy systems to process prescriptions, including insurance adjudication and prior authorization submittal, and accurately prepares dangerous drugs for dispensing including counting, pouring, labeling, and performing non-sterile drug co mpounding and reconstitution.
• Inventory, replenish, and maintain drug stock which includes automated dispensing cabinets and prescription pick-up kiosks.
• Packaging and selling dangerous drugs to a patient or patient representative and answering questions to ensure a positive patient experience.
• For Medication History Pharmacy Tech 2, activities include but are not limited to:
• Support medication history collection process for ED and inpatient units utilizing appropriate sources and communication.
• Communicate effectively with patients during the interview and accurately record the medication history.
• Maintain open communication with nurses, patient care technicians, practitioners, and other personnel in the hospital to report important findings.
• Duties may include those addressed above in the Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Essential Functions.
• For Infusion Pharmacy Tech 2, Infusion Technician Essential Functions align with Inpatient Technician Essential Functions.
