Job summary

UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support pharmacists by reviewing, compounding and dispensing medications under supervision. Eligible for the Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program with $5000 in commitment incentives over two years. Onsite, standard 40-hour week, daytime schedule.

Required NC Board of Pharmacy registration or enrollment in a PharmD program; PTCB CPhT or NHA ExCPT certification if not enrolled. Prior experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• CPhT or ExCPT certification required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
• Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Compound and prepare hazardous medications (sterile, high-risk) under pharmacist supervision.
• Deliver medications to patient areas and return unused medications to the pharmacy.
• Document pharmaceutical activities including patient billing and quality controls.
• Respond to requests for assistance with pharmacy services and information.
• Operate automated dispensing technology to supply medications per orders.
• Manage inventory: order, receive, restock, rotate, and track expirations.
• Assist with training of new employees and contribute to process improvements.
• Complete regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage and inventories.
