Job Description

The Certified Pharmacy Technician II works under the lead supervision of a Pharmacist to provide services to pharmacy customers. The Pharmacy Technician supports the Pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical care. Responsibilities vary based on location and pharmacy type. The role involves interaction with Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, nursing staff, hospital staff, physicians, patients, vendors, and drug company representatives.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician training course preferred. Completion of Pharmacy Service Line competencies within 6 months of hire.
• Experience: Previous pharmacy experience preferred. At least one year of pharmacy experience required for Registrar I.
• Licensure/Certification: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. National Certification as a Pharmacy Technician required within 9 months of hire.
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to maintain familiarity with 1000-2000 medications, focus on accuracy, customer service orientation, proficiency with office equipment and computers, basic mathematical and logistical problem-solving skills, effective time management, and adherence to procedures with minimal supervision.
