Department: Central Inpatient Operations

Location: Dallas, TX

Shift: PRN, Evenings/Overnights from 5pm - 3:30am; Weekdays/Weekends

Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Team Lead and Pharmacist, this job is responsible for preparing unit dose medications, compounds non-sterile preparations, and delivering medication to patient care units.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepares drug products for checking and dispensing by a pharmacist; preparation includes selecting and preparing unit dose medication, compounding, repackaging, and drawing up patient-specific doses.
  2. Prepares non-sterile admixtures, including hazardous medications.
  3. Maintain professional/ethical standards by complying with laws and regulations related to pharmacy practice, using sound professional judgment, exhibiting reliability and credibility.
  4. Demonstrate empathy for patients and maintaining confidentiality.
  5. Complete required training and competencies required.
  6. Answer department telephones and assist the pharmacist with responding to inquiries.
  7. Perform computer entry for missing doses, patient charges and credits, and other documentation.
  8. Deliver or restock medications; deliver pharmacist code box; assist in maintaining overall cleanliness and organization of work areas and maintaining a continuous level of readiness for inspection by external groups.
  9. Perform other duties and special projects as required.

Credentials:

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician
  • Intravenous Certification preferred
  • WORK EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years pharmacy-related experience Preferred
  • EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
  • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • Registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy Registration Upon Hire Req
  • 20 hour ACPE accredited IV training course, except in First Pharmacy. Upon Hire Pref
  • Maintenance of CPhT Upon Hire Pref
