Perelman Retail Pharmacy is looking for Certified Pharmacy Technicians located at 3400 Civic Center Blvd in Philadelphia.
Summary:

The Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician is responsible for processing prescriptions for patients and their families in the clinic setting. The Pharmacy Technician will collect medication histories, fill scripts, and coordinate payments in conjunction with pharmacist direction.

Responsibilities:
  • Determines patient insurance requirements for pre-certification, patient payments, and coverage limitations, and the necessary actions prior to discharge.
  • Maintains communication with ambulatory-based clinical pharmacists, social workers, discharge and specialty pharmacy program team members as needed to obtain complete, accurate financial information required for claim adjudication.
  • Immediately communicates any coverage issues to the clinical practice to determine the appropriate next steps.
  • Proactively communicates benefit investigation information to clinical practices and patients.
  • Supports all myPennPharmacy services as needed.
  • Collaborates with internal team members to gather paperwork, prescriptions, billing information, and/or prescriptions.
  • Provides follow-up communication with patients, clinical practices, and families regarding pharmaceutical needs and additional eligibility information to ensure ongoing medication access.
  • Interacts with medical staff and their designees to obtain complete, accurate, and timely clinical and financial information required for payer reimbursement.
  • Provides education to patients and clinical practices regarding insurance coverage related to discharge medications.
  • Performs duties in accordance with Penn Medicine and entity values, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the unit, department, entity, and health system organization.
Credentials:
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • At least 6 months of retail pharmacy experience preferred.
