Position Summary

The Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists, providing a high level of assistance in compounding (sterile and non‑sterile preparations), distribution and dispensing of medication and other pharmaceutical related supplies. The role assists pharmacy managers or designee in designing, coordinating, and implementing high quality and cost‑effective pharmacy technician services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Adheres to all policies and regulations regarding sterile compounding practice.
• Maintains necessary record‑keeping and training documentation pertinent to areas of responsibility.
• Inspects assigned area(s) monthly for proper storage and labeling of medications and expired medications; completes necessary inspection documentation.
• Promotes sense of team effort together with pharmacists and technicians.
• Assists in identifying/researching problems and issues related to department budget and patient billing.
• Attends educational seminars/in‑services to maintain or enhance skills and competencies.
• Adheres to pharmacy policies, procedures, and objectives; maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.
• Uses job‑appropriate technology and software applications.
• Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licenses, as required by the clinical area.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

These threshold requirements are required and completed yearly basis, Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements, in‑service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation, TB/PPD, Surveillance Program.
