Qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred.
• Licensure: Virginia registration required; Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification within 6 months, ACPE program ok.
• Other: Detail-oriented, customer-focused, able to use basic office equipment and perform basic math.

• Process, fill prescriptions, verify information, and adjudicate insurance claims.
• Prepares non-sterile compounds and package medications.
• Maintains equipment and cleanliness of the department.
• Handles medication charges, operates registers, and manages financial transactions.
• Maintains records, prepares bank deposits, and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Orders, receives, and returns medications; manages inventory using PAR levels.
• Delivers medications and supplies to various locations.
• Interacts with patients, staff, and vendors.

Duties listed above represent a general scope of responsibilities. Actual tasks may vary depending on the work site (e.g., Retail Pharmacy, Pharmacy Supply, or Carilion Medical Center).

What We Require:

• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: Previous pharmacy work experience is preferred.
• Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professionals required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Certification relevant to work area is required within 6 months of hire. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board Certification is not required if currently enrolled in College of Pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)
• Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to maintain familiarity with a large number (1000-2000) of medications and focused on attention to detail/accuracy. Must be customer service oriented. Requires knowledge and use of general office equipment and procedures, including computer/keyboard. Must be able to solve simple mathematical and logistical problems in the work environment. Must be able to effectively budget time, work efficiently and accurately, and follow procedures with minimum supervision.

Compensation Range: $21.50 - $21.50 Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
