This position is expected to develop, enhance, implement, and provide direction for home infusion pharmacy services and initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employee supervision, education and training of staff, residents, interns, and students, providing leadership and service line development, involvement in quality assessment and process improvement, and serving as an administrative role model. In addition, they will staff their service area to maintain their competencies in clinical expertise.

The supervisor will experience competing demands from pharmacy management, nurses, physicians, pharmacy staff, and other healthcare professionals, as they attempt to influence clinical decision-making, clinical policies and practices, and workflow. The supervisor must deal with intense situations on a daily basis. In addition, within the healthcare setting, there can be a significant lack of control over the work pace, with frequent interruptions (work is often dictated by external factors) that may lead to mental fatigue or stress.
