Job summary

The University of Kentucky is seeking a Pharmacy Sr Tech I/Retail for their on-call retail pharmacy service. This role involves assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications while ensuring excellent customer service in a busy retail environment. Candidates must hold a National Pharmacy Technician Certification and demonstrate dependability and attention to detail in a collaborative setting.

Qualifications

  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification thru either PTCB or ExCPT.
  • 1 year of related experience preferred.
  • Retail and/or Hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred.

Required License/Registration/Certification:

National Pharmacy Technician Certification thru either PTCB or ExCPT with CPhT designation and Registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of hire or on day one if previously registered with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy as a technician.

Physical Requirements:

This position may require sitting at a computer workstation and performing tasks with repetitive motions; and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 25 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to or over 50 pounds. Must also be able to reach above or below waist level. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals and fumes including waste, and blood-borne or airborne pathogens.

Shift:

Shifts may vary depending on location. Hours and days of week subject to change based on the needs and growth of the department. Requires occasional holiday and weekend rotations are part of the shifts. Number of hours scheduled per week may vary. Potential shifts and locations available will be discussed during the interview.

Job Summary:

This position also requires teamwork, excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

This position requires dependability, excellent customer service and the ability to prioritize. The successful candidate must be reliable and demonstrate excellent attention to detail. Must be self-motivated and be able to stay on task. Must be reliable and punctual. This position requires teamwork, excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to be applied with both patients and other medical professionals.
Creates and maintains cultures where all staff delivers friendly, patient centered care.

Preferred Education/Experience:

Retail and/or Hospital pharmacy technician experience preferred but not required. Hired candidate must maintain licensure as CPhT from PTCB/ExCPT during employment in this position.The starting pay for this position was recently adjusted. The minimum hourly rate for this position will now be $18.50/hour. All pay rates will be based on candidate’s experience.
