Job summary

Adena Health System in Chillicothe, OH seeks a Pharmacy Resident PGY1 for a full-time residency to develop clinical pharmacists providing medication-related care for patients across conditions. Responsibilities include counseling, interpreting results, and immunizations as per approved protocols.

The resident will engage in direct patient care, work with a multidisciplinary team, and participate in ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a BS or PharmD ACPE-accredited program in Pharmacy.
• Current license to practice Pharmacy in the State of Ohio.
• Immunization certification.
• BLS and/or ACLS certifications preferred.
• Hospital experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient interactions and medication education.
• Interpret laboratory results and administer immunizations per approved protocols.
• Engage in disease-state counseling and care planning.
• Collaborate with clinicians to ensure safe pharmacotherapy and patient outcomes.
• Adhere to laws, accrediting standards, and system policies.

Position Summary: The Pharmacy Resident PGY1 participates in a Postgraduate Year One residency to develop clinical pharmacists who provide medication‑related care for patients across a range of conditions. Responsibilities include ensuring the safe, therapeutic, and rational provision of drugs within the Adena Health System; maintaining compliance with laws, accrediting standards, and system policies; making independent or collaborative clinical decisions; safeguarding confidential information; and performing duties such as patient counseling, minor laboratory procedures, interpreting results, and administering immunizations. The resident may provide coverage at any Adena entity and work with patients of all ages unless assigned to a specific age group.
