Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an Expense Pharmacy Coordinator to oversee purchasing surveillance, develop quality data analytics for leadership, and assist in daily operations within the pharmacy distribution center. The role collaborates with the 340B and ICCE teams to ensure contract compliance and optimize procurement processes across MUHA.

Qualified candidates hold a Doctor of Pharmacy or a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy, with residency and SC Pharmacist licensure preferred, plus

Qualifications

• Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy.
• Completion of a pharmacy residency preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Pharmacist by the SC Board of Pharmacy.
• Current BLS required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or Red Cross CPR/AED).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate purchasing surveillance in pharmacy locations.
• Ensure ICCE adheres to medication procurement contracts; fix issues.
• Use procurement software to analyze data and curb extra spend.
• Participate in cost savings, performance, and quality projects.
• Identify direct purchase opportunities for cost savings or shortages.
• Attend and contribute to multiple business review meetings.
• Report updates on initiatives to senior leadership with the Pharmacy Distribution Center Director.
• Assist areas with inventory data; optimize inventory turns and reorder points.
• Collaborate with PharmIS to maintain electronic inventory systems.
• Oversee pharmacy analysts in reporting opportunities to leadership.
