Location: Remote Position

Pay Range: $20.78 - $36.53

Position Summary

The trainer pharmacy operations transitions will support the growth and maintenance of both the department and organization in Training, Transitional Leadership, Fiscal Responsibilities, and Quality Assurance. They will provide leadership, oversight, and guidance over the pharmacy training process and onboarding of new pharmacy staff. Utilizing their expert-level training skillsets in sterile compounding, oncology, and pharmacy practice, they will onboard, coach, and mentor Pharmacy Staff and Clinical Nurse Managers while employing project management strategies to ensure the success of transitions and training programs. Extensive travel, including extended out-of-state stays, will be required.

When not training or on transitions, the employee will monitor their assigned region, reviewing trends and metrics impacting inventory management and compliance. This role is fiscally responsible for mitigating drug losses and implementing cost-recovery efforts to minimize financial impact. They will evaluate current processes, partner with clinical staff and management to address non-compliance issues, and assist in other departmental and organizational areas as needed.

Primary Key Performance Areas
KPA 1 - Mastery of Pharmacy Practice and Operations
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of pharmacy practice, including sterile compounding, hazardous drugs, medical safety, and relevant laws.
  • Stay current in pharmacy education through professional development and involvement in professional organizations.
  • Utilize technology to enhance teaching and training experiences.
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge base and perform all duties of a clinic pharmacy technician.
KPA 2 - Training and Educational Performance
  • Plan and organize instructional sessions to maximize learning.
  • Employ effective teaching strategies for clinical staff.
  • Adjust instructional methods to meet educational needs.
  • Prepare and deliver training materials via on-site and webinar formats.
  • Evaluate training outcomes and recommend additional resources.
  • Document training activities and communicate results appropriately.
KPA 3 - Fiscal & Financial Responsibilities
  • Monitor inventory loss reports and identify operational trends.
  • Communicate trends and suggest workflow improvements.
  • Collaborate with pharmaceutical partners on cost recovery programs.
  • Maintain documentation related to drug losses and coordinate reimbursement efforts.
KPA 4 - Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Maintain quality assurance programs, including competency testing and process assessments.
  • Monitor quality systems for assigned regions, including drug temperature monitoring.
  • Support root-cause analysis of temperature excursions and review temperature standards.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and regional updates.
KPA 5 - Communication & Project Management
  • Lead and participate in department meetings and develop educational content.
  • Implement project management tools for training and transition planning.
  • Support process improvements and provide remote support to clinical staff.
  • Monitor service requests and ensure timely communication.
Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree preferred.
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Training Program preferred.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Pharmacy Technician registration/certification required at hire.
  • Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician (CSPT) required within six months.
  • Valid driver's license for travel, with compliance to safety policies.

Experience

  • At least three years of pharmacy technician experience, including sterile and hazardous drug handling, preferably in oncology.
