Reports to the Division Director/Assistant Director of the assigned area. Is responsible for working collaboratively with the health care team to promote wellness, maintain current health, or intervene in acute or chronic illness as well as assisting the Division Director with managerial responsibilities. Promotes the safe and effective use of medications by consulting with other health care professionals concerning problems and instructs patients and families on their medications. Managerial responsibilities include monitoring, recommending, and implementing changes to improve the operations of the department.

This operations manager is based in our Adult Medicine, Emergency and Surgery Pharmacy that provides pharmacy services for all adult patients on campus with the exception of oncology patients. This position will have primary responsibility over our inpatient medication distribution operations directly managing the work of our operations pharmacist coordinators, pharmacy technician supervisors, and inventory specialist. They will also work with their fellow operations managers to assist in the oversight of our broader clinical pharmacy services and medication use procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree. Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is desired.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.

  • Minimum of one year of hospital experience with responsibility for the supervision of pharmacy personnel is desired.

  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and drug information. Requires comprehensive knowledge of the medication use system.

  • Demonstrates interpersonal communication skills required for effective communication with patients and other health care providers. A high level of analytical ability is required to resolve problems regarding the medication use system. Committed to teaching, mentoring, and coaching students, residents and pharmacists.
  • Intravenous (IV) Certification (includes aseptic technique and hazardous substance handling) within 90 days upon hire.
  • Proficient and effective with the use of computers, computer software for pharmacy and healthcare applications, specific pharmacy practice equipment, and pharmacy technology.

Salary Range: Minimum$53.55/hour - Maximum$93.74/hour.Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
