Pharmacy Technician Job Description
Responsible for performing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist in healthcare service offerings under pharmacist supervision.
- Lead, train, coach, and manage pharmacy technician personnel, including performance evaluations, discipline, and termination decisions.
- Engage with customers and patients to provide assistance, resolve complaints, and enhance the overall pharmacy experience, focusing on healthcare services.
- Assist pharmacists with patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, and other healthcare services as permitted by law.
- Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical tasks, ensuring timely completion and workflow efficiency within legal and policy guidelines.
- Prepare and file reports required by the company and government agencies, manage pharmacy operations, and ensure compliance and security measures are in place.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, oversee administrative activities, and support technology and process rollouts.
- Maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques, support diversion monitoring, and report concerns.
- Process insurance claims accurately, resolve issues, and participate in audits.
- Support pharmacy financial and operational improvements, coordinate community outreach, and build retail partnerships.
- Lead performance management, including hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ensuring licensure compliance.
- Maintain PTCB certification, pursue professional development, and participate in training programs.
- Communicate effectively with the pharmacy team, participate in meetings, and relay important messages.
Minimum Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in English reading, writing, and speaking (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
