A Pharmacy Operations Manager oversees day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations, ensuring a smooth workflow and a positive patient experience. The role requires a full‑time certified pharmacy technician who operates pharmacy systems under pharmacist supervision, supervises pharmacy technicians and cashiers, and manages personnel development.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving complaints, and answering non‑clinical questions.
- Build strong relationships by anticipating needs and proactively offering services to enhance the health‑care experience.
Operations
- Assist the pharmacist with patient registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification (where legal).
- Complete patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision, where allowed by law.
- Assist with healthcare service offerings such as vaccines and screenings, when authorized.
- Delegate, direct, and assign non‑clinical work, ensuring timely completion and accountability.
- Prepare and file required reports and records for the company and government agencies.
- Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily schedule, recommend hour allocation, and maintain a clean, stocked environment.
- Oversee inventory preparation and maintenance of pharmacy equipment.
- Adhere to Good Faith Dispensing policies and report prescription errors to the pharmacist.
- Ensure accurate processing of insurance claims and follow‑up with insurers and providers.
- Support financial analysis with the Store and Pharmacy Managers.
- Manage community outreach, coordinate immunization clinics and events, and build relationships with partners.
People & Performance Management
- Lead performance management of technicians, making discipline and termination decisions and ensuring compliance with laws.
- Handle hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and monitor timely training completion.
- Identify operational knowledge gaps and provide training support.
- Assist in monitoring licensure and certification status of pharmacy personnel.
- Ensure proper recruitment, record retention, and training procedures.
Training & Personal Development
- Maintain PTCB certification and any required state certifications.
- Continuously improve knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
- Complete required training modules and performance improvement plans.
- Seek professional development through self‑assessment, feedback, and mentorship.
Communication
- Communicate with the pharmacy team, relaying messages from support centers or key emails.
- Participate in store/pharmacy meetings, including 5‑minute updates and weekly check‑ins.
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital settings.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire, except for certain locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous people‑management/leadership experience.
- Previous work experience with Walgreens with an exceeding expectation rating.

The current salary range for this position is $22.50 per hour – $31.00 per hour. Actual hourly salary depends on factors such as geography, skill, experience, and other relevant factors.
