Qualifications

Job description

Job Overview

The Pharmacist in this role will partner with three peers to serve as our Inpatient Pharmacist Leads for various clinical areas, including Internal Medicine/hospitalist, Oncology, Pain management, OB/NICU, and surgery/OR. The position involves mentoring and teaching teams, project-based work, and precepting students, interns, and residents.

Responsibilities include investigating medication errors, managing drug utilization and cost savings, coordinating drug shortage responses, IT ticketing, and regulatory oversight. Meetings may include site and system-wide sessions such as Pharmacy Operations, Pharmacy Practice, Regional Leadership, Pharmacy Council, and service line meetings.

This role primarily involves daytime hours with occasional fill-in for other shifts as needed.

Location

Primarily at Fairview Southdale in Edina, MN, with some oversight at Ridges in Burnsville.

Hours and Schedule

80 hours bi-weekly, mainly days, with rare evening/weekend coverage for projects or departmental needs.

Job Expectations
  • Lead daily operations of assigned pharmacy/clinical department to meet organizational goals.
  • Provide clinical, formulary, and pharmacotherapy expertise; serve as a resource and preceptor for students and staff.
  • Deliver clinical pharmacy services, including medication dispensing, therapy monitoring, and documentation.
  • Partner with care teams to ensure appropriate medication use and therapy effectiveness.
  • Assess and support the practice model, workflow, and environment for pharmacy staff.
  • Develop performance metrics and improvement activities.
  • Collaborate on human capital initiatives, staff development, and training.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Support pharmacy performance and financial objectives through analysis and decision-making.
  • Promote continuous improvement using lean tools.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through literature review, training, and conferences.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Pharmacist Degree
  • One-year pharmacist experience in a complex setting or completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency
Licenses and Certifications
  • Minnesota Pharmacist License
  • Minnesota Preceptor License
Preferred Qualifications
  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Over 3 years of inpatient experience with leadership roles

Compensation

The posted salary range for a 40-hour week is $143,707.20 to $202,883.20 annually. Actual pay depends on factors like FTE, skills, education, and experience. We value pay equity and internal fairness.
