Job summary

Actalent seeks a Pharmacy Operations Director to own the high-volume clinic pharmacy operations, lead a team of pharmacists and technicians, and drive performance across people, processes, and systems.

This onsite role in Oakland Park, FL requires maintaining ACHC/URAC accreditation, managing 340B inventory, overseeing P&L and EBITDA, and representing the pharmacy at community events while aligning operations with organizational goals.

Qualifications

  • Active Florida Pharmacist license.
  • PharmD degree.
  • BS/BA degree in Business/Healthcare/Operations.
  • 10 years of pharmacy experience, including specialty pharmacy.
  • 10 years of leadership/operations experience in pharmacy.
  • Experience with ACHC or URAC accreditation processes.
  • Pharmacist must be ACHC accredited.
  • 340B inventory management experience.
  • Strong business and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to manage P&L and EBITDA.
  • Experience driving pharmacy performance improvements.

Job Title: Pharmacy Operations Director
Job Description

The Pharmacy Operations Director oversees and owns all operational aspects of a high-volume clinic pharmacy, ensuring optimal performance of people, processes, and systems. This leader maintains full compliance with state and federal regulations, sustains ACHC specialty accreditation, and aligns day-to-day operations with the organization’s mission to improve healthcare access and outcomes in the community. The role manages a team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, reports to the Chief Pharmacy Officer, and serves as the public face of the pharmacy at local events.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the pharmacy to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 3 staff pharmacists and 7 pharmacy technicians, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.
  • Own outcomes related to people, processes, and systems, continuously improving workflow efficiency and service quality.
  • Ensure full compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations and standards.
  • Maintain and uphold ACHC specialty accreditation and ensure adherence to all accreditation requirements.
  • Manage and optimize 340B pharmacy inventory, ensuring accurate tracking, cost-effective purchasing, and appropriate utilization.
  • Oversee profit and loss management for the pharmacy, including monitoring financial performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Calculate and interpret EBITDA and other key financial metrics to drive data-informed operational decisions.
  • Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, financial results, and patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with leadership to align pharmacy operations with organizational strategies and community health goals.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to deadlines and timely completion of operational, regulatory, and financial tasks.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for accreditation-related activities and audits, including ACHC and URAC processes as applicable.
  • Utilize pharmacy management software, including QS1 and related systems, to support billing, dispensing, and operational reporting.
  • Represent the pharmacy as its public face at local events and within the community, building strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Visit local pharmacies on an as-needed basis to support operational needs and strengthen community and professional partnerships.
  • Promote and model strong cultural competency in all aspects of patient care, team leadership, and community engagement.
Essential Skills
  • Active Pharmacist license in the state of Florida.
  • PharmD degree.
  • BS/BA degree required, preferably in Business, Healthcare Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or Logistics.
  • 10 years of pharmacy experience, including specialty pharmacy and experience with specialty medications.
  • 10 years of leadership and/or operations experience within a pharmacy setting.
  • Required prior experience with pharmacy ACHC or URAC accreditation processes.
  • Pharmacist must be ACHC accredited.
  • Demonstrated 340B pharmacy inventory management experience.
  • Strong business and entrepreneurial skills with a commercial mentality.
  • Proven ability to manage profit and loss statements and calculate EBITDA.
  • Experience driving pharmacy performance improvement initiatives.
  • Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and delivering on operational objectives.
  • High level of cultural competency in working with diverse patients, staff, and community partners.
  • Willingness and ability to visit local pharmacies on an as-needed basis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred prior utilization of QS1 pharmacy software, including instafill billing (training available).
  • Preferred prior experience with pharmacy ACHC accreditation beyond the minimum requirements.
  • Preferred prior experience with additional pharmacy-related software systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and represent the pharmacy at local events.
  • Demonstrated ability to align operational decisions with organizational mission and community health goals.
Work Environment

This role is 100% onsite in a high-volume, fast-paced clinic pharmacy located in Oakland Park, FL. The work environment involves managing complex specialty pharmacy operations, 340B inventory, and accreditation requirements while collaborating closely with clinical and administrative teams. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday during clinic hours, with occasional Saturday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Team members work with modern pharmacy management systems, including QS1 and related technologies, in a setting that emphasizes accuracy, efficiency, and patient-centered care.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $185000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
