Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Oversee safety, quality, and customer experience of the site operations.
  • Meet CPT times for same-day deliveries in collaboration with co-located facilities.
  • Evaluate medication orders for appropriateness and suggest therapy changes.
  • Set and communicate expectations; measure performance and provide feedback.
  • Educate staff on policies and guidelines related to quality practices.
  • Lead Lean initiatives to meet and exceed operating plans.
  • Manage workflow and delegations with the leadership team.
  • Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws and licensure requirements.
  • Coordinate with legal to maintain licensure and respond to regulatory changes.
  • Drive talent development and succession planning across the site.
  • Implement new processes to improve service and reduce costs.
  • Maintain patient profiles with complete medical history and medications.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in PharmD, or Doctor of Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy in Science
Active Pharmacist License in domicile state

At Amazon Pharmacy, the Pharmacy Manager is a licensed Pharmacist who is responsible for the operation oversight and compliance of a small format pharmacy site, including; safety, quality, customer experience, budgetary, people development and operations objectives. The Pharmacy Manager will lead a small team of technicians and pharmacists, coaching and mentoring the team to ensure performance objectives are met, building positive employee relations and building leadership bench strength within the organization. This role will require hands-on involvement in the operation, handling tasks ranging from dispensing medications to managing the entire process of prescription fulfillment, ensuring completion from initiation to the final stage. This includes, filling, verifying and packing orders for shipment, in addition to pharmacist verifications. The Pharmacy Manager will have a strong commitment to patient safety and with high standards of service to deliver on being the earth’s most customer-centric pharmacy.

Key job responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall safety, quality, performance and customer experience of the operations.
  • Manage daily operations within the site, including meeting CPT times for same day deliveries, in partnership with co-located facilities and transportation.
  • Evaluate physician medication orders for appropriateness of drug, dosage, potential interactions, and route of administration. Make recommendations for therapy changes to the prescriber as appropriate.
  • Will set and clarify requirements and expectations for employees. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds the team to a high bar.
  • Educate pharmacy staff on policies, reporting guidelines, and expectations as they relate to best quality practices.
  • Drives creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives and other Lean initiatives to enable their site to meet and exceed the operating plan.
  • Managing workflow, escalations and effectively delegating across your leadership team in partnership with the Sr Pharmacy Operations Manager.
  • Stay informed and adhere to local, state, and federal laws related to pharmacy practices, including changes or developments and their impact on Amazon Pharmacy and its customers.
  • Coordinate with the corporate legal team to maintain licensure of the pharmacy and its staff with various state pharmacy boards. Continuously monitor licensure requirements.
  • Align policies and initiatives with requirements and demands of accrediting/licensing bodies (BOP, VIPPS, URAC, DEA, FDA, USP).
  • Responsible for the site’s growth and partnering with capacity planning and facilities for all growth workforce management needs.
  • Develops talent – Create, lead, engage with and direct a workforce to drive enhanced performance through our people agenda. This will include all levels of the business – safety of our people, employee engagement, performance leadership, training and development, as well as talent & succession planning.
  • Implements change and/or develop new processes as required to provide ability to better service customers, reduce cost to serve and improve contribution.
  • Maintain the customer’s profile through leveraging our PharmacyOS/Pharmacy Lite database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including over the counter and home remedies).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in PharmD, or Doctor of Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy in Science
  • an active and unrestricted Pharmacist License in your domicile state
  • 1+ years of Staff Pharmacist within Amazon experience
  • Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques
  • Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Active and unrestricted Pharmacist License in all states requiring Non-resident PIC license, or willingness to obtain within first 6 months in role.
  • Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations surrounding pharmacy practices and patient safety
  • Strong in oral and written communication skills with the ability to think clearly, analyze quantitatively, problem-solve, support scope of requirements and prioritize.
  • Able to manage detail, establish root cause and be able to extract and manipulate data
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and terminations
  • 2+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situation
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop others into higher levels of leadership in an organization
  • Entrepreneurial in mind, with the tenacity to develop ideas independently and thrive in fast-paced environment is crucial
  • An analytical thinker with project management skills, attention to detail, an ability to influence others, and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Interest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.
