Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharm, 7 years of pharmacist experience with 3 years in leadership, and NC licensure or eligibility within two months.

Qualifications

  • 7 years total pharmacist experience with 3 years in a pharmacy leadership role.
  • Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain NC license within two months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manages pharmacy programs by assessing needs and workload and measuring performance.
  • Identifies and develops department goals using data, goals, and stakeholder input.
  • Represents the pharmacy department on interdepartmental teams to plan performance improvements.
  • Fosters collaboration across health system pharmacies to support regulatory compliance.
  • Performs monthly cost variance analysis and communicates causes, implementing corrective actions.
  • Collaborates with customers, committees, and senior leadership to manage systemwide expenses.
  • Anticipates and adjusts staffing to meet patient care needs and coaches staff.
  • Performs other duties as required.

The Pharmacy Manager plans, integrates, controls and evaluates human, material and fiscal resources required to provide pharmacy services for inpatient and outpatient programs. This role facilitates, coordinates, and manages staff, material, and financial resources to achieve pharmaceutical, distribution and consultative services which support nursing and medical management of patient care.

Essential Job Function
  • Manages pharmacy programs by consistently assessing pharmacy services needs and workload issues and measuring department performance.
  • Identifies and develops pharmacy department goals and objectives, utilizing organizational goals and trend data along with customer and staff input.
  • Represents the pharmacy department on interdepartmental collaborative teams and committees to plan for and implement performance improvement activities that support regulatory agency expectations.
  • Helps foster and develop collaborative activities across health system pharmacies that plan and implement regulatory compliance activities.
  • Performs monthly analysis of cost variances, identifies and communicates causes, and implements action plans to resolve in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Works collaboratively with customers, committees, and senior leadership to manage systemwide expenses (i.e., salary, pharmaceutical, medical supply).
  • Anticipates and adjusts staffing to meet various levels of patient care needs.
  • Coaches pharmacists, technicians, and support staff in the performance of pharmacy services in assigned pharmacy areas.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Education
  • Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BS Pharm.
  • Preferred: MHA, MS Pharmacy or Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or other advanced degree in pharmacy or healthcare leadership.
Experience
  • Required: 7 years' total pharmacist experience with 3 years in a pharmacy leadership role.
Licensure/Certification/Listing
  • Required: Current active license to practice pharmacy in North Carolina, or eligible to obtain North Carolina pharmacy license within two (2) months of date of hire.

Work Shift: Days/No Weekends (United States of America)
