Summary
- The Inventory Control Specialist is a Pharmacy Technician III responsible for maintaining an average monthly Pharmacy inventory of almost $5 million. This role assists Purchasing staff in preparing orders, ensuring accurate billing and shipment, receiving, unpacking, and entering products into automated inventory systems, overseeing inventory cycle counts, developing inventory procedures, and preparing management reports.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all inventory functions are accurate, efficient, compliant, and minimally damaged.
- Manage physical inventory in the Lower and Main Storerooms, resolving issues and answering inventory questions.
- Collaborate with hospital staff to store medications properly and within expiration dates, performing daily expiry checks for assigned bins.
- Maintain inventory records, documenting receipts, issues, and transfers, and maximize the functionality of inventory automation systems.
- Review monthly reconciliations and bi‑monthly cycle counts performed by Storeroom staff.
- Assist Purchasing staff with FDA recall notifications, retrieval of medication from inventory, and vendor returns.
- Complete annual safety training and keep up‑to‑date with industry trends.
Credentials
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required prior to employment or within six (6) months of hire. Failure to obtain or recertify results in immediate termination.
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy required.
Education or Equivalent Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- At least 3 years of prior pharmacy experience required.
- Previous pharmacy inventory experience preferred.
