Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital in Cleveland is seeking a Pharmacy Intern for the Summer 2027 Internship. You will support inpatient pharmacy operations and rotate through core stations, gaining IV preparation training and opportunities to engage in clinical activities in year two.

As a Pharmacy Intern, a caregiver in this role will gain hands-on experience supporting inpatient pharmacy operations at Fairview Hospital, a large acute care facility serving a broad range of patient populations across inpatient medicine, surgical services and specialty care. During the first year, interns receive training similar to pharmacy technicians and rotate through core pharmacy stations, including the medication carousel and IV room. Interns are encouraged to develop IV preparation skills and will receive IV training if needed, though prior IV training is not required. Interns who continue into a second year can expand their experience to include clinical activities such as medication histories, transitions of care, research and quality assurance projects. Opportunities to shadow clinical pharmacists are also available for those interested in exploring clinical pharmacy practice.

A caregiver in this position will work 8-hour day and evening shifts between 6:00 AM and 11:00 PM, with weekend coverage required every fourth weekend. The internship is expected to begin in summer 2027, with the start date determined based on candidate availability, ideally no later than mid-June 2027. The position will continue into the academic year, with scheduling arranged around the caregiver's availability.

• Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
• Compound and prepare medications for delivery to patient care areas.
• Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
• Communicate with physicians and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.

• Enrolled in an accredited College of Pharmacy program and meets education requirements to qualify for intern license in the State of Ohio OR International pharmacy experience which meets the requirements to qualify for the Foreign Graduate Pharmacy Intern License.
• Current State Board of Pharmacy Intern License (PH/INT) before your start date.

Physical Requirements:

• Typical physical demands include ability to perform job while standing, reaching, stretching and sitting for prolonged periods; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions of job.

• Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
