Job summary

Firelands Health is seeking a qualified Pharmacy Technician to support dispensing operations, sterile preparation, and medication distribution in a hospital setting. You will work under direct supervision of a Director or Pharmacist, perform aseptic technique, and utilize Pyxis systems.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent and an active Ohio Pharmacy Intern license, with a 90‑day probationary period and strong attention to accuracy and safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; maintain active Pharmacy Intern license in good standing.
• Organize work and work with minimum supervision.
• Read/write small letters and numbers; perform basic arithmetic.
• Communicate effectively in writing and speaking; handle sensitive inquiries.
• Comply with OSHA, USP 797, CDC precautions; use PPE; SDS forms; 90‑day probation.

Responsibilities

• Procures and distributes drug orders per physician or pharmacist requests, per policies.
• Fills physician orders, kits, carts or requisitions accurately.
• Identifies and fills replacement meds on crash carts, carts and floor stock.
• Prepares sterile products (including chemotherapy) per USP 797/800; performs math calculations.
• Must be a certified pharmacy technician; verify orders with pharmacist on duty.
• Maintain stock of medications and supplies per procedures.
• Assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Rotates stock; replaces outdated and unusable drugs.
• Restocks medication/IV areas; uses Pyxis and automated systems.
• Performs monthly unit inspections; pre-packages medications.
• Generates reports, pick lists and labels; answers calls and directs requests.
• Organizes work; maintains logs and documentation; keeps areas clean.
• Contributes to quality projects and committee work.
