Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking an Intern Pharmacist to support inpatient and ambulatory pharmacy services. Under direct supervision you will dispense, compound, procure, store and distribute medications and provide medication information to patients and clinical staff.

You will review patient data, counsel on therapy, ensure regulatory compliance, participate in quality programs, and assist with education and training across the department.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written English-language communication skills.
• Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations and standards regarding pharmaceutical services.
• Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient and relate it to the medical management plan.
• Ability to learn and operate pharmacy computer systems and other equipment.

Responsibilities

• Dispenses, compounds, procures, stores, packages and distributes pharmacy products in accordance with laws and policies.
• Interview patients to obtain information regarding medication use, allergies and sensitivities and document in records.
• Advise patients on directions for use, storage, and compliance with therapy.
• Collaborate with medical personnel on pharmaceutical care and treatment plans.
• Participate in education, training programs and quality management activities.
