Job summary

Wood County Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Intern (Part Time) to assist with safe medication preparation and distribution under licensed pharmacists. This onsite position emphasizes regulatory compliance, inventory management, and patient care within a modern facility.

As a PharmD student, you will engage in labeling, compounding, documentation, and narcotics record-keeping while gaining hands-on experience and opportunities for growth in a real-world clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in receiving, storing, packaging, labeling and distributing medications under pharmacist supervision.
  • Perform prescription label typing, compounding, inventory management and appropriate pharmaceutical calculations.
  • Maintain accurate drug receipt/distribution records, narcotics inventory and pharmacy documentation.

Pharmacy Intern is an onsite position.**Essential Functions*** Demonstrate working knowledge of pharmacy laws, professional standards, and hospital policies by accurately performing assigned duties under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.* Assist in receiving, storing, packaging, labeling, and distributing medications—ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, especially regarding controlled substances and drug recalls.* Perform technical pharmacy tasks such as prescription label typing, compounding, and inventory management, using appropriate pharmaceutical math, terminology, and equipment.* Maintain accurate records for drug receipt and distribution, including narcotic inventory, expired medications, and pharmacy documentation, as directed by the pharmacist.* Support the pharmacy team by following precise oral and written instructions, participating in medication deliveries, and filling in for pharmacy technicians as needed.* Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.* Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request.
