Job summary

Mercy Health's St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital seeks a Pharmacy Intern to assist pharmacists in interpreting and processing orders for inpatient and outpatient services.

Responsibilities include dispensing medications, compounding IVs, operating automation, and providing patient counseling. The role supports training of new technicians and students, with emphasis on medication safety, stock management, and collaboration with care teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Actively enrolled in an accredited college of pharmacy with an active board of pharmacy intern license is required.
• Pharmacy Intern License is required; Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and process physicians’ orders; enter, select, dispense, and deliver medications for inpatient and outpatient services.
• Assist with IV admixtures and robotic/automated dispensing devices.
• Counsel patients and provide medication education; participate in medication reconciliation.
• Trains and precepts new technicians, students, and interns; participates in committees.
• Ensure medication safety, stock management, and appropriate charge/credit functions.
