Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PharmD. program.
• CA Pharmacy Intern license.
• 2 years of inpatient pharmacy experience.
• Accuracy in performing pharmaceutical calculations.
• Knowledge of pharmaceutical generic and trade names and their dosage forms, with the ability to cross‑reference common drugs from memory.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical abbreviations.
• Skill in preparing intravenous solutions using aseptic technique.
• Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision.
• Skill in computer order entry of medication orders and related computer tasks, including report generation.
• Telephone and verbal skills for clear communication with pharmacists, nurses, physicians and other allied health professionals.
• Ability to compound chemotherapy solutions using departmental guidelines for the preparation/distribution of cytotoxic agents.
• Physical ability to lift 25lbs and push 50lbs.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, perform drug distribution duties and pre-packaging.
• Maintain inventory in Pyxis medstations (filling daily, check for outdates).
• Perform IV and chemotherapy sterile compounding.
• Record-keeping (refrigerator temperature logs, hood cleaning).
• Billing, housekeeping and security functions.
