Job summary

Walgreens in New York seeks a Pharmacy Intern to support the pharmacist and team, learning to assist with prescriptions, patient counseling, and pharmacy systems. You will help deliver excellent customer service and comply with state and federal regulations.

Under supervision, you will perform tasks in dispensing, inventory, and patient care activities, participate in training, and develop knowledge of pharmacy policies while building professional skills in a fast-paced retail pharmacy.

Responsibilities

• Customer Experience: Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues to ensure a positive experience.
• Customer Experience: Models and shares best practices to deliver a distinctive and delightful experience, including greeting, eye contact, and proactive service.
• Operations: Learn from store and pharmacy team members and assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision in accordance with policy.
• Operations: Perform duties per SOPs for entering, third party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
• Operations: Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers in patient care services within state scope of practice, including counseling and health services.
• Operations: Report prescription errors to the pharmacist and adhere to policies on pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Operations: Keep the Pharmacy Department stocked, manage inventory, and handle cash when needed.
• Operations: Assist with maintenance, cleanliness, and orderly condition of the Pharmacy Department.
• Training and Personal Development: Complete required training and maintain knowledge in healthcare and pharmacy.
