Job summary

St. Mary's Medical Center in Blue Springs, MO is seeking an enthusiastic Pharmacy Student Intern to join our hospital team. You will assist the Pharmacist with drug distribution, patient counseling, and pharmacokinetic calculations under supervision.

This internship provides hands-on experience in a dynamic pharmacy environment and is ideal for students currently enrolled in a pharmacy school seeking to network with hospitals in the Kansas City area.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment as a Pharmacy Student.
  • Current State Board of Pharmacy Certificate of Pharmacy Intern.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Pharmacist in drug distribution systems, including patient counseling and pharmacokinetic calculations.
  • Participates in performance improvement and data collection activities.
  • Responsible for dosage preparation, sterile admixture using aseptic technique, floor stock delivery, pre-packaging, billing, receiving, and stocking.
  • Provides pharmaceutical care for neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
  • Inventory control, controlled substances distribution, documentation and accountability, inspection of medication storage areas, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • All responsibilities performed under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist according to local board of pharmacy and state regulations.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist.

Hours: 12-hour shift - 8:00 am - 8:00 pm

Location: St. Mary's Medical Center - Blue Springs, MO

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):
  • Assists the Pharmacist in the support of the drug distribution systems, including patient counseling and pharmacokinetic calculations
  • Participates in performance improvement and data collection activities
  • Responsible for dosage preparation, preparation of sterile admixture using aseptic technique, floor stock delivery, pre-packaging, billing, receiving, and stocking
  • Participates in providing pharmaceutical care for the following age groups: neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
  • Other responsibilities include: inventory control, controlled substances distribution, documentation and accountability, assisting in the inspection of medication storage areas throughout the hospital, and maintaining the cleanliness of the department
  • All responsibilities are performed under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist according to the local board of pharmacy and state regulations
  • Performs other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist
