Job summary

Clinical Solutions Pharmacy is seeking a pharmacist to join our closed-door, sterile compounding team in Lake Butler, FL. You will oversee sterile preparation, verify orders, and ensure compliance with USP /, DEA, OSHA, and state Board requirements while leading a team of pharmacists and technicians.

The role emphasizes quality assurance, patient safety, and collaboration with clinicians in a fast-paced infusion/pharmacy setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience with hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding in compliance with USP <797>, USP <800>, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a sterile compounding environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders.
  • Perform and oversee sterile compounding in compliance with USP <797> and USP <800>.
  • Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations.
  • Review medication profiles for safety, allergies, interactions, dosing, and compatibility.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Supervise and mentor staff pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
  • Maintain cleanroom, aseptic technique, and environmental monitoring standards.
  • Manage all aspects of quality assurance, medication safety, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and audit compounding, batch, quality, and regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain and oversee inventory management, controlled substances, and pharmacy operations.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training.
  • Lead and participate in staff meetings.

Location: Lake Butler, Florida - RMC, Florida Department of Corrections
  • 20 minutes from the Gainesville Area

This position combines sterile compounding expertise with clinical pharmacy services, regulatory compliance, and leadership in a fast-paced environment supporting infusion pharmacy patients.

  • Adhere to all safety regulations by utilizing appropriate PPE at all times while performing job duties and working in designated areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
  • Principles, practices, standards, and terminology related to the practice of pharmacy.
  • Drug properties, usage, and the effects of drug interactions.
  • Sterile compounding and dispensing pharmaceutical drugs, medications, and supplies.
  • Adherence to pharmacy policies, methods, specifications, and procedures.
  • Identify, coordinate, and support staff training and development.
  • Evaluation of drug therapy against established criteria.
  • Ability to maintain attention to detail and focus for prolonged periods while performing tasks requiring a high degree of accuracy in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead development of program policy manuals, rules, and program monitoring methodologies, techniques, and plans.
  • Development and maintenance of a perpetual inventory control system.
  • Ongoing evaluation of pharmacy methods, procedures, and services.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships.
Preferred Experience
  • Home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy experience preferred.
Physical Requirements/Strengths needed & Physical Demands:
  • The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must be able to bend, reach overhead, stoop, lift, stir, walk, and stand for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • The employee is required to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift/move objects.
  • Able to reach, carry, finger, grasp and feel objects related to duties.
  • Able to maintain manual dexterity sufficient to manually manipulate syringes, vials, needles, IV bags, and other compounding materials.

Able to consistently wear and properly maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
